- Able to evaluate locations based on production and story considerations
- Able to secure permissions from relevant authorities
- Able to prepare production site for shooting in accordance to workplace, safety and health and other legal requirements
- Develop a checklist for each type and sequence of locations required based on production needs
- Review the locations shortlisted against the production requirements as well as financial and logistical criteria
- Lead final survey of the shortlisted locations to assess the suitability of the locations based on production requirements and constraints
- Ascertain the permissions and licenses required and the related costs
- Analyse location parameters and risk factors to recommend final locations that balance production needs against financial and logistical constraints
- Oversee the process of obtaining various permits and licenses from the local authorities

- Negotiate fees and terms for using the shortlisted location to ensure budget adherence
- Advise others on minimising potential risks and contingency arrangements to cover weather extremes or non-availability of certain locations to minimise delays during production
- Oversee all aspects of production and workplace safety and health of every crew member

Hands-On Learning:
Your producer comes to you who is the location manager of a TVC to work out the location requirements together with a storyboard.
You are required to find out the number of scenes of the TVC, the details of each individual scene and the number of hours that required for a scene there off to plan out for the full details so as for you to scout for the right venues and negotiation.
